|paintyourface||03:46 pm - superman|
Hello all, this is my first time posting but I was wondering if anyone has every made a superman quilt before? My boyfriend pretty much things hes superman (especially when he drinks lol) We just got our own place a few months back and while rearanging our room the other night we were talking about beds and such and me talking about wanting a huge round bed like shaq brought up superman.
anyways, I thot it would be great to get him a comforter or "quilt" with the superman "s" logo for christmas. It seems though, they dont make them plain like that, nor do they make them anywhere near the size i want (our bed is a king size) So i thought about making one, thought im not too expierenced with sewing i know how to.
has anyone every done something like this? even if on a smaller scale? Would anyone be interested in doing thing for me and ill pay for materials and labor? I know it would mean alot more probably if i hand made it, but i want it to look super nice.
any and all ideas/comments/suggestions would be greatly appriciated. Im glad I thot of this early instead of last min like i usually think of good ideas lol.
If I was going to try such a thing, I'd do the logo in freezer-paper appliqué
--it's a bit fiddly, but it's ideal for tricky, precise shapes like that, and you can make the logo as big as you like.
Given that quilting an entire King-sized quilt can be a lot of work, if you can find a ready-made blue comforter in the right color, then making the logo as a separate piece and attaching it to the comforter is one option you might want to consider. Or you could even make a duvet cover to go over an existing comforter. Edited at 2008-10-07 08:38 pm (UTC)
That's exactly what I was going to suggest. Buy a blue Comforter, and appliquee on the Superman logo.
